Meadowlands was started in early spring 2008 by three, not so young (but still foolish people), wishing to create an event on their doorstep. The following autumn we delivered the September Sound Harvest, a one-day one-night event, attended by 550 people. Enjoyed by creators and revelers a-like, we were inspired to continue with the bigger plan… and so Meadowlands Festival was born. With the additional support and enthusiasm from the owner of Glynde Place and an agreement from the alpacas to move out from their grazing land for one weekend a year, Meadowlands now had a home.
We are glad to say that nearly everyone who worked at that initial event is still with us today helping us to maintain a strong and consistent team. Every year we have seen the team grow with ever more creative people from London and Brighton. Our backgrounds range from scenery and prop making in the film industry, theatre technicians, music production managers, graphic artists, film makers and photographers, librarians and even one family counselor.
We are all very excited about the plans for 2012…
